Skydiving Altimeter

As a skydiver who tinkers with micro-controllers,  I couldn’t help but wonder… How difficult could it be to create a digital altimeter that skydivers use to gauge altitude? Rather than create the typical wrist held altimeter, I’ve been prototyping one that rests inside a skydiving helmet like a HUD (Heads Up Display).

Now, without considering the cost of creating and manufacturing the housing for your altimeters components or wholesale prices… Here are the basics components and retail costs for creating an altimeter :
