A.I. Album Cover Art
I’ve had the pleasure of drawing the cover art and creating animations for the band Two Good Eyes. For the art for their latest album “My Favorite Trilogy” and their single “We’re gonna make it”, I had suggested using AI and testing this comic book style I had been playing with to see if it could complement their concept. We were originally focused solely on the album art, but AI nurtured such a creative flow we ended up tying in the single cover art with the theme that evolved.
One of the biggest benefits of using AI was the ability to go from their original concept to creating mockups that inspired further imaginative ideas that evolved over 100 iterations to get to the end result. I fed and refined my AI prompts and even drew some rough sketches in an attempt to better guide it towards the results we wanted.
As a nod to the movie “Back to the Future” and alluding to the answer to the album’s title, the band wanted to incorporate the Delorean time machine from the movie. Although the AI created an amazing Delorean, it wasn’t a time machine. I had to draw the time machine parts among other slicing and dicing in Photoshop to piece things together.
Where we may have saved some time, we used much of it to take advantage of being able to so fluidly explore ever evolving inspiration towards new ideas that better reflected the band and this album. In the end, we did save some time as there would have been no way to draw so many iterations of concepts at that quality and within budget or time. Furthermore, for the previous cost of a single design and animation the band got an album and single design along with animations. I even used AI to create the albums animation, while using Adobe Animate to manually create the singles animation. Chek it out…
